Project Description

Our customer supplies slurry pumps in a number of sizes and configurations to the mining industry, WB has been manufacturing the associated clamping assemblies in mild steel to them for the last 25 years. The process involves high-definition plasma cutting, milling, turning, drilling, rolling, forming and MIG welding. We are then required to prime paint each segment ready for their dispatch, each clamping assembly contains  4 of the segments.
When the specification of one of their clamping rings required to be laid on the bed of the ocean we no longer could supply them in the usual mild steel. We had to re-engineer the design and usual processes to cater for the change from mild steel to stainless steel to cope with the harsh salt water environment.
